Nomenclature The generic name Nanopsis Cecalupo & Robba, 2010 is invalid because preoccupied by Nanopsis Freytag, 1974 [an insect of order Homoptera]. Anyway the taxonomic validity of the genus has been questioned (Oliver et al., 2012: 66) so that this and other species of Cerithiopsidae which have been assigned to Nanopsis are here accepted under Cerithiopsis.
