The present study constitutes a descriptive and illustrated record of gastropod larvae present at 2.8 km off “Punta de Lobos” (30° S, 71°21’ W), north-central Chile, in the period March- December of 2000. Samples were collected with a 300 mm mesh down to 50 m of depth. The larvae of 19 species were determined, of which 13 are described here. Larvae of
Turritella cingulata Sowerby, 1833,
Crassilabrum crassilabrum (Sowerby, 1834),
Xanthochorus cassidiformis (Blainville, 1832),
Nassarius dentifer (Powys, 1835) and
Salitra radwini Marincovich, 1973 were identified. The remaining species were assigned to genus or family. The larvae were characterized with the aid of light and scanning electron microscopy and we report the occurrence by number and species of collected larvae.
