Type locality About four miles northeast of Black Falls, Arizona, United States. Originally the record was attributed to the "Painted Desert beds" and considered Jurassic. Yen (1951) in turn assigned the fossils to the Upper Triassic Chinle Formation, which was revised by Harshbarger et al. (1957: 28) who attributed them to the Lower Jurassic Kayenta Formation. [details]
