Nomenclature Nomen nudum in Wood (1847: 118). Wenz (1923) and Munt (2014) considered the species a synonym of P. similis Férussac, 1812, which is a homonym of P. similis O.F. Müller, 1774. P. rotundatus Brongniart, 1810, which Férussac listed in synonymy, is a homonym of P. rotundatus Poiret, 1801 and thus invalid too. The next available name is P. goniobasis Sandberger, 1871, introduced as a replacement name for P. rotundatus Brongniart. [details]
