Grammatical gender unclear. Treated as feminine in the original publication, with no statement regarding etymology, gender or whether treated as a Latin name. Although not a classical Latin word, the name can be understood as a double genitive meaning "[the one] with a small mouth". Os, oris (latin for "mouth") is neuter in gender, so that the compound name should be neuter if construed as nominative; however as a genitive it can be interpreted (based on original combination of the type species) as "the [Eulima] with a small mouth", making the feminine gender acceptable. Here treated as feminine as in the original publication. [details]
