Taxonomy Turton (1822) based his new genus Agina on a specimen of Hiatella misidentified as Mya purpurea Montagu, 1808 (=Turtonia minuta (Fabricius, 1780), see Warén (1983: 165). This is a case open to application of ICZN art. 70.3 and there it would be preferable to select Hiatella and therefore avoid to displace the well-known name Turtonia Alder, 1848. [details]
