Spelling the specific name polythalamia was used by Linnaeus as an epithet and given grammatical agreement accordingly (e.g. Cochlites polythalamius, Tubulites polythalamius) in other Linnaeus' works. The correct usage in combination with Kuphus seems to have been noted mostly by paleontologists (e. g. Tavani, 1948). [details]
