Taxonomy The application of the taxonomic name Peregriana (or Radix) labiata (Rssm.) is a matter of debates. According to Falkner et al. (2002), this name should be used for a designation of a common European species earlier known as Radix peregra auct. Later, Vinarski (2017) argued against it and provide some arguments that the name R. peregra must not be replaced by R. labiata. The type series of the latter, described and illustrated by Vinarski (2017), consists of dried and presumably juvenile shells that makes its difficult to judge on its identity. Vinarski (2017) hypothesized that these shells belong to juvenile Radix balthica, though his opinion may be questioned. [details]
