Taxonomic remark Naggs & Raheem (2000) stated: "Two species have been placed in Digoniaxis Jousseaume 1894. The type species, which was found on a beach near Aden, Yemen, proves to be a marine pyramidellid. ‘Digoniaxis’ cingalensis (Benson 1863) was described from a single specimen collected by Edgar Layard close to Matale, North of Kandy, Sri Lanka. The taxonomic status of D. cingalensis remains a mystery. Benson’s specimen cannot be traced and while his description corresponds well with the Aden species, Matale is as far from the sea as it is possible to be in Sri Lanka." [details]
