Schwabe (2000), the first author noticing this homonymy, proposed to maintain the specific name of Chiton
lepidus Reuss, 1860 for a chiton (currently known as Lepidochitona lepida) from the Middle Miocene of Europe. The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (2003) has accepted this proposal (Opinion 2033). [details]
