Nomenclature Name introduced in synonymy of Cardium angulatum Lamarck, 1819 after a manuscript label by Deshayes in British Museum. However Hedley's (1899) concept of Cardium angulatum is based on Reeve (1845: pl. 14, sp. 70) which is misidentified; on these grounds the name Cardium philippinense was used as valid for the species actually figured by Reeve.
