Nomenclature Gasullia was introduced with two species originally included: Helicodonta riffense Pallary, 1936 and Oestophora (Gasullia) gasulli Ortiz de Zárate & Ortiz de Zárate, 1961. However, in 1961, riffense Pallary, 1936 was a nomen nudum. Thus, Gasullia was typified by monotypy, with gasulli being the typetaxon. The subsequent designation of Oestophora (Gasullia) riffensis Ortiz de Zárate, 1962 is invalid. Welter-Schultes (2012) erroneously mistook Macularia riffensis Kobelt, 1903 for Helicodonta riffense Pallary, 1936. [details]
