Etymology Named after the Sun’s daughter Lampetia (Lampetii in Greek) in Greek mythology. She and her sister Phaethusa were in charge of the Sun’s sacred cattle herds in the mythical island of Thrinacia. The name means “shiny” in ancient Greek. [details]
