Status Deshayes (1856-1860) referred the authority of this species to himself, based on a MS name. However, the species was first validly introduced by Potiez & Michaud (1844). While Deshayes referred to material from the Lutetian (middle Eocene) of the Paris Basin, these authors only listed recent occurrences from India, Sri Lanka and Africa. Both works referred to the Arnould collection, which was studied by Deshayes. Probably the localities given by Potiez & Michaud are erroneous.
The species is not referred to in the literature of the 20th and 21st centuries. Status and classification remain doubtful. [details]
