Taxonomic remark This taxon had been considered an early name for the Cernuella species from Lampedusa. However, Helix metabola Westerlund, 1889, is based on juvenile specimens of Theba pisana (Falkner in IUCN Red List under Cernuella lampedusa), and thus is a synonym of this species. [details]
