Synonymy Hilgendorf (1867) listed "Valvata multif. var. planorbiformis v. Klein etc." in synonymy of his new variety, but it is uncertain if he considered Klein's record a misidentification or if he intended to synonymize the taxon (originally described by Zieten, 1832), which would make it a junior objective synonym. Wenz (1923) synonymized Hilgendorf's name with Zieten's without any comment. [details]
