Authority Favre (1927) has usually been considered the author of this taxon. Welter-Schultes [2012] grants the authorship of this name to Ehrmann [1933], whereas Piechocki [1989] to Schlesch, 1947. According to Welter-Schultes, "The style of the work suggests that Favre regarded the term pseudo-sphaerium not as a name for separate taxa, but to describe a certain Sphaerium-like form of shells".
