Synonymy White (1877) incorrectly deemed Unio leanus Meek, 1871 a homonym of U. leaii Griffith & Pidgeon, 1833, for both were named in honor of Lea, and introduced U. meeki as replacement name. Since no homonymy exists, U. meeki is a junior objective synonym of U. leanus. [details]Type locality "Church Buttes, Wyoming Territory" (Meek 1871), USA; Bridgerian, early Eocene [details]
