Steklov (1966) gave a Late Pliocene age in the text but an Apsheronian age (which he considered to be Late Pliocene, but is actually Early Pleistocene) in table 2 on p. 89. Prysjazhnjuk (2015) reported specimens tentatively identified (cf.) from the Volhynian (Serravallian, middle Miocene) of Moldova. The actual age range of the species remains uncertain. [details]
