Homonymy Sauerzopf (1952) considered this species to belong in Cardium, making it a secondary homonym of Cardium costatum Linnaeus, 1758. He introduced Cardium (Replidacna) krambergeri as a replacement name. Although the two species are no longer considered conspecific, the homonym must not be reinstated, since the replacement name has been used (e.g. Papp 1956, Nevesskaja et al. 2001) (see ICZN Art. 59.3).
