Woodward (1895) as Naticopsis (Marmolatella) applanata Kittl, 1894 (Ladinian, Marmolada Limestone, N Italy) according to Knight et al. (1960). Type species was subsequently designated by Cossmann (1925) as Ostrea stomatia Stoppani, 1858 (Ladinian, Esino Limestone) according to Diener (1926), Wenz (1938) and Bandel (2007). [details]
