Status Kühn (1946) referred the authorship to Lanza (1856), who mentioned the species as nomen nudum. Kühn clearly did not intend to introduce a new species and discussed the possibility that the material contained two distinct species ("Angesichts des schlechten Erhaltungszustandes fühle ich mich nicht berufen, zu entscheiden, ob es sich um eine oder zwei Arten handelt, noch die Art Lanza's zu einer gültigen zu machen."). Still he provided taxonomic characters and made the name available (see also ICZN Art. 11.5). Status and classification remain uncertain. [details]
