Status Roemer (1841) referred the species to Hoeninghaus (1830, there as Nerita rugosa), which is a nomen nudum though. The name is a homonym of Natica rugosa Gmelin, 1791, and d'Orbigny (1850) introduced Natica subrugosa as replacement name. [details]
