Status D'Orbigny (1845, p. 316) later considered his own taxon the same as Ptychomya plana Agassiz, 1842 (see also Dames 1873), but for some reason he still kept his own name as valid (compare also d'Orbigny 1850, Prodrome 2, p. 77). Some of the later authors, however, considered d'Orbigny's name as valid without further discussion (e.g. Yanin 2021). A revision is required! [details]
