Status Simone (2024) restricted the name Limopsis minuta to Mediterranean fossils, and for the Recent Atlantic populations used the name L. borealis. Simone did not discuss the status and identity of the Recent Mediterranean populations. The name L. aurita is not conserved for such specimens, for which we tentatively use the name L. borealis based on Recent type material, pending a more thorough re-evaluation of their relationship to the fossils.
