Spelling Original spelling nicocheanum, after the Argentinian place name "Nicochea". Vokes & Houart (1986: 84) regarded this as an error and, under Art. 32a(ii) of the Code then in force, explicitly emended the specific epithet to necocheanus, -a, -um. Although it is questionable whether nicocheanum was an incorrect original spelling (the place name Nicochea appears to have been in use in the 19th century), the emended spelling is in prevailing usage and is accepted here.
