Note 3 syntypes NHMUK 1982183 ex. Sir E. Belcher....
Type material 3 syntypes NHMUK 1982183 ex. Sir E. Belcher. Erroneous locality "China seas" with syntype sample. All 3 specimens are conspecific with the western African species commonly referred to as Turritella conspersa Adams & Reeve, 1850, are fairly young specimens, and lack the typical broad last whorl with elaborated sculpture. All three have an intact protoconch. largest specimen measures 26,85 mm x 8,45 mm.
The present research under the WoRMS LifeWatch Turritellidae project has revealed that the 8 to 9 post-larval whorls clearly show a single-keeled whorl shape. As such its placement within Archimediella as proposed by Marche-Marchad (1960) is hereby corrected. [details]
