A new tergipedid nudibranch, Cuthona punicea sp. nov., is described from the Canadian Pacific. Primitive features of this species suggest that it is related to the genus Cuthonella Bergh, 1884. Comparison is made with the two extant species in this genus and evidence is presented to include the genus Cuthonella within the genus Cuthona Alder &Hancock, 1855.
