Status Guzhov (2022) synonymized the species Alicula okenii, the type species of Alicula, with Acteocina lajonkaireana (Basterot, 1825). This would make the latter genus a junior synonym of Alicula. Since Acteocina is a widely used name and Alicula is rarely used, Guzhov proposes to treat Alicula Eichwald, 1830 as nomen oblitum following ICZN Art. 23.9.2 and Acteocina Gray, 1847 as a nomen protectum.
