Validity Lorenz and Hubert, 2000 listed this taxon as a valid subspecies. However, DNA was tested by Chris Meyer (CGDP, 2005) (http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/cowries/) but not recognized as an Evolutionarily Significant Unit (ESU). Until more evidence becomes available to validate it, it should be considered a species inquirenda. [details]
