Synonymy Link (1807:138) refers to Gmelin (1791:3645) and Chemnitz (1786:164, pl. 135, fig. 1229), which represents Helix ater = Faunus ater (Linnaeus, 1758). It is assumed that the page number in Gmelin, 1791 given by Link was given in error as Strombus ater [Linnaeus, 1758] is listed on page 3521. [details]
