Accelerating fossil name entry through philanthropy grant!

Added on 2024-07-15 20:30:19 by Vos, Chris
Editors receive a grant to accelerate entry of fossil species names from important monographs.
Editors Thomas A. Neubauer and Simon Schneider are happy to announce that their WoRMS Philanthropy grant application was successful.

The grant aims at supporting a student worker who will enter hundreds of names of fossil marine gastropod and bivalve species from major taxonomic monographs by G. A. Goldfuss, G. Münster, J. Morris and J. Lycett in the coming months, along with data on original description, type locality distribution and fossil age.

This project should significantly enhance the number of original names of fossil species and lay the foundations for further work.
