Synonymy Soldatenko & Starobogatov [1998, 2000] believed that this species was earlier described from Germany by Clessin under the name Planorbis carinatus var. dilatatus (non Gould, 1841). Glöer & Pešič [2010] studied the topotypes of P. carinatus var. dilatatus (Königsee in Bavaria) and found that these have nothing to do with P. kubanicus. [details]Taxonomy Validity of this species is sometimes questioned, Welter-Schultes (2012) does not include it into his list of the European freshwater Mollusca [details]
