Biology Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch. [details]Diagnosis Shell 2.0- 2.15 mm high, with protoconch of 1.5 whorl and teleoconch of two to three whorls. Protoconch with indistinct spiral threads, not appreciable under the light microscope, teleoconch with a faint sculpture of weak axial lines in the form of wrinkles parallel to growth stages, and minute spiral striae more distinct on the adapical part of the whorl next to the suture. One spiral cord running along the suture or very close to it on the abapical side of the spire whorls; body whorl with this cord continued and with five to six more on the periumbilical area, separated by very broad interspaces, and decreasing in size towards the abapical side. Outer lip with a thin, flaring edge, thickened externally at a distance of the edge by a broad rim on which the spiral sculpture is attenuated; smooth and not thickened inside. Shell white, translucent.
This species is distinguished from Pseudosetia amydralox Bouchet & Warén, 1993 and from the sympatric Pusullina fuscapex Gofas, 2007 by having strong, definite spirals on the abapical surface. The thickened outer lip makes placement in genus Pseudosetia spurious, and it may be actually more related to Alvania stenolopha Bouchet & Warén, 1993 despite the lack of axial sculpture. [details]
