Later, he changed the name to Cochlostyla paradoxa to avoid confusion with Helix lacera L. Pfeiffer, 1854 (Dryocochlias). On pg. 217, published in 1877, Semper described Cochlostyla paradoxa as a new species, citing pl. 9, fig. 5. Cochlostyla lacerata C. Semper is considered here a nomen nudum since no description was given and Cochlostyla paradoxa C. Semper, 1877 as the proper species name.
