Type species Douvillé cited two other species in the discussion of Eocallista, but it is not clear whether he included them in the genus. Frizzell [1936, Bulletin du Musée Royal d'Histoire Naturelle de Belgique, 12(34): 35] cited Venus brongniarti Roemer as type species by OD, and Frizzell has been cited by Keen & Casey [1969, in Moore (ed.), Treatise on invertebrate paleontology, N2: 666] as the fixation of the type species by SD. Note that Venus brongniarti Roemer, 1836 is a junior homonym of Venus brongniartii Payraudeau, 1826. [details]
