From editor or global species database
Additional information Nevesskaja et al. (2001: S194) incorrectly stated that this species was "described for the form figured by Papaianopol (1975b) as Ch. asaphiopsis (Brusina, 1897); the latter species does not belong to that genus (Taktakishvili, 1987)." However, Taktakishvili (1987) actually introduced the new species for Chartoconcha sp. from upper Dacian deposits. This mistake is probably based on a misinterpretation of Taktakishvili's text, who wrote that the classification of Limnocardium asaphiopsis in Chartoconcha is questionable. Also, as correctly stated by Nevesskaja et al. (2001: S194), he argued that Papaianopol's (1975) record of Ch. asaphiopsis is probably a misidentification. Taktakishvili then followed with an updated list of Dacian (not Pontian!) Chartoconcha where he gave the new name, which probably led Nevesskaja et al. (2001) to interpret this as new name for Papaianopol's misdidentification. [details]
