Status This combination does not exist as such in the literature, the species is usually referred to as Cleionychia lamellosa (Hall, 1862). However, this name is based on a misspelling. Hall (1862) listed Ambonychia lamellosa referring to an earlier publication of his where the name is given as Ambonychia cancellosa, yet without explanation. Pojeta (1966) considered that, despite the lack of evidence, the name change is "sufficient evidence that lamellosa was intended as a valid emendation of cancellosa. However, even if Hall had indeed that intention, it would be an unjustified emendation, since there is no objective reason (e.g. homonymy) for a name change. [details]
