New combination New combination established herein - Pecten pulchellus Matheron, 1842 is a junior homonym of Pecten pulchellus Nilsson, 1827 and was replaced by Pecten matheronianus A. d'Orbigny, 1850. It was also considered a synonym by Zittel (1886) of Pecten laevis Nilsson, 1827, which itself is a homonym of Pecten laevis Pennant, 1777 and was replaced by Syncyclonema haggi Dhondt, 1971 (who was unware of d'Orbigny's name). Consequently, Pecten matheronianus is the oldest available name. [details]
