Synonymy Huber (2010: 732) recognized Venus holosericea Gmelin, 1791 as a senior synonym of Cytherea fulminata Menke, 1828. He declared the latter a nomen protectum but did not fulfill the conditions of ICZN (1999) Article 23.9.1. Bieler & Mikkelsen (2025: 14) provided formal evidence and declared Cytherea fulminata Menke, 1828a nomen protectum and Venus holosericea Gmelin, 1791 a nomen oblitum. [details]
