Authority Philippi (1844: 168) described this species attributing the name to Scacchi, 1836 (Catalogus Conchyliorum regni Neapolitani, p. 13). However Scacchi only listed Pleurotoma ginnania (Risso, 1826), without giving a description and clearly stating Risso as the authority. Philippi changed the name, provided a figure and a description, and stated differences with Mangelia ginnania Risso, 1826, so that he is assumed to have described a new taxon [details]
