Nomenclature Wenz (1913) introduced the name as a "mutation", which is not governed by the Code. However, Wenz (1925) considered the name a junior synonym of H. umbilicata Pilsbry in Dall, 1892. Since he treated H. umbilicata Wenz as a valid name, referring to his description in 1913 and ranking the replacement name as distinct species, it is available as of 1913 (ICZN Art. 45.6.4.1) and hence a junior homonym. In 1930, Wenz erroneously re-introduced the same replacement name again without any reference to his action of 1925 (Wenz 1930: 65). [details]
