Status Wesselingh et al. (2008) listed Taner's (1975) record of that species in synonymy of Didacna phrygica (Oppenheim, 1919), but it is unclear whether they intended to synonymize the species. However, they write (p. 870) "We suspect that most of these [referring the many species described by Oppenheim and Taner] can be attributed to one of the three species recognised below." [details]
