Authority Hoernes (1874) attributed the authority of the species to Bayern, but the description is apparently from Hoernes himself (see note on p. 72). [details]

Synonymy Eberzin (1952) discussed the species and its differences from Didacna tamanensis, both of which were considered synonymous by Andrusov (1910). The species was not treated in the revision by Nevesskaja et al. (1993). [details]
